In this video and blog post, I share my experience switching from using paper charts to using a practice management program.

If I never made the switch, I may have burned out from the administrative tasks of running my private practice.

Before using a practice management program:

Scott Allen, president of 2MI Software Solutions, presents a demo of VPTherapy360. VPTherapy360 is a high-quality video conferencing program for behavioral health professionals, who offer online counseling via videochat.

Our interview with Christina Michelle Hamilton, M.A.Ed., LPC, NCC, ACS, DCC, an approved clinical supervisor, covers how telesupervision is practiced.

Telesupervision is known by different names: E-Supervision, Online Supervision, Virtual Supervision, Technology Assisted Clinical Supervision, Skype Clinical Supervision….  However, it is simply the practice of clinical supervision when the supervisor and the supervisee are at different locations and communicating electronically.

This interview covers the following questions:

How is telesupervison practiced?

Does telesupervison work?

Is telesupervision allowed?

What are the benefits and drawbacks of telesupervision?

Is telesupervison training helpful?

What are the boundaries of competence?

How to provide telesupervision for an organization

Dee Wagner, BC-DMT, LPC, primary creator and instructor of our Digital Dance online course presents a small portion of the webinar material at the Expressive Arts Summit in NYC. Her workshop opens discussion about how to use technology to embody, rather than allowing it to unconsciously disembody.

Online dating can be turbulent times, but if one is intentional it can be a great opportunity for growth and healing.  Dee Wagner, BC-DMT, LPC has written articles and a workbook that guides online daters through the process of building awareness, processing their emotions, and growing in their interpersonal relationships.

Two highly experienced clinicians share how they expanded their psychotherapy services by including online counseling.  They share some great advice to those also wanting provide this option to their current and prospective clients.

When great clinicians have great information to share they want to share it LOUD, and help as many people as they can.  With the internet, we can easily share our helpful and powerful information to anyone who needs it.  Due to only being able to practice healthcare within the state’s in which a clinician is licensed, some may be tempted to label their services as psychoeducation rather than psychotherapy.  Most clinicians may not even be trying to “get away” with practicing across state lines (interstate counseling) without being licensed in all states, but truly be wanting to solely provide psychoeducation.

The results are coming in from the Georgia Telemental Health Rule.  Should other states follow suit?

Georgia requires that Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Professional Counselors, who provide telemental health services, attend at least a 6 hour CE training on telemental health counseling.  Clinical supervisors are required to take an additional 3 CE hour course on how to supervise telemental health counseling.

Great insights on telephonic case management from a true expert.

Many of my alumni have questions on setting up their home office.  I love my home office.  I often take short breaks to spend time with my wife and youngest child, who is not yet in school.  I also love checking in with my older children when they get home from school.  To help you get started I will share with you how I have set up my home office.
