Description

In this activity, you will practice conducting a Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) session where you are the therapist, and the AI will portray a client seeking support. This role-play is designed to help you apply the core attitudes and skills of PCT, such as empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard.
Your Role
- Approach the session as a therapist would with a new client.
- Begin by welcoming the client and creating a safe, non-judgmental space.
- Let the client lead the conversation. Your role is to listen actively, reflect feelings, and stay non-directive.
- Demonstrate the core conditions of Person-Centered Therapy throughout the interaction.
Goals of the Activity
- Practice the core relational attitudes and skills of PCT.
- Build comfort holding therapeutic space without directing or advising.
- Receive reflective feedback to deepen your therapeutic development.
After the Session
Once the session ends, the AI will provide feedback on your performance using a Person-Centered Therapy Competency Rubric, including:
- What you did well
- Where you can improve
- Specific examples tied to best practices in Person-Centered Therapy
