Mental health therapists know that therapeutic alliance is a critical part of therapy. Research finds in-person therapy and video teleconferencing (VTC) to achieve similar results. Challenges occur in areas of technology frustrations and in boundaries where the clients may have outside distractions. Setting the structure for effective therapy is a standard part of the therapeutic process. This course provides a system by which skilled clinicians can broaden their therapeutic selves into effective VTC professionals.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify therapeutic alliances in VTC and identify technical issues in creating an appropriate treatment environment in VTC.
- Discuss the use of the client environment to integrate effective interventions and illustrate techniques for observing process shifts and emotional data in clients.
- Discuss issues of ethics and of client safety.
This is a non-interactive self-study course.
Instruction consists of 1 hour of video instruction and a post-test.
From the time of registration, you have six months to access the coursework.
