As mental health care continues to evolve, especially in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, clinicians are increasingly challenged to provide high-quality, accessible care in an ever-changing landscape. One of the most significant changes has been the rise of telehealth, which allows clinicians to reach clients who may be unable or unwilling to engage in traditional face-to-face therapy.
This course explores how peer support, built on shared life experiences, can transform telemental health by fostering trust, autonomy, and meaningful connections with clients—especially those hesitant to engage in traditional treatment.
Participants will gain invaluable insights into the creative strategies peer specialists nationwide have used to maintain strong relationships in a digital environment. They will discover how telehealth platforms can be utilized to deliver peer support and explore how to cultivate meaningful peer-to-peer interactions online. Additionally, they will learn how to build rapport and trust with clients via digital tools, collaborate with peer specialists, and integrate care models that combine clinical expertise with the personal connection and empowerment that peer support brings.
By the end of this course, participants will gain actionable strategies and real-world applications of telehealth in peer support, enabling them to expand their therapeutic toolkit and stay at the forefront of behavioral health care. From virtual support groups to video conferencing or other digital tools, they will gain the skills to reduce isolation and create a sense of community for their clients.
