Neurodivergent therapists and staff often face unique challenges, such as navigating communication barriers, coping with overstimulation, and confronting biases and misunderstandings from supervisors and colleagues. These challenges can lead to burnout, underutilization of clinical talents, exclusion from leadership opportunities, and contribute to the high turnover experienced in the field. Addressing these issues is crucial to fostering an inclusive environment that supports the well-being and career growth of neurodivergent professionals.

This course equips managers and clinical supervisors with the knowledge and skills to effectively support neurodivergent staff in mental health and clinical settings. By using the approach of universal design, participants will explore ways to create workplaces where neurodiversity is recognized as an asset. Neuroinclusive strategies will be emphasized to leverage the unique strengths of neurodivergent staff, moving away from deficit-based thinking. Participants will also gain practical tools to develop systems and spaces that are universally accessible and directly address the systemic barriers that neurodivergent mental health professionals face, improving workplace dynamics, employee well-being, and clinical outcomes.
