Description and Schedule

This course is a live, interactive webinar held on October 4, from 12pm-3:20pm Eastern Daylight Time.

Registration closes at midnight (EDT) the day before the event

Sex therapy is a form of talk therapy designed to help individuals and couples address medical, psychological, personal, or interpersonal factors impacting sexual satisfaction. The goal of sex therapy is to help people move past physical and emotional challenges to have a satisfying relationship and pleasurable sex life.

Sex therapists, who are licensed healthcare providers, work in a supportive, nonjudgmental, and safe environment. They focus on emotional and mental roadblocks related to sexual issues, such as performance anxiety or intimacy concerns. However, it’s essential to note that sex therapists do not typically obtain training in the realm of supervision post-certification which may significantly impair their ability to train and supervise other individuals in the field of sex therapy.

Sex therapy supervision plays a crucial role in shaping competent and ethical sex therapists. The purpose of this course is to provide sex therapists who are or aspire to become supervisors with:

Expertise and Guidance: Trained supervisors offer expert guidance, drawing from their clinical experience. Trained supervisors are more equipped to help supervisees navigate complex cases related to sexual health.

Optimizing Skills: Sex therapy supervision training enhances psychotherapeutic skills in diagnosing and treating sexual dysfunctions and disorders. Sex therapy supervision training helps clinicians with developing structured sessions that focus on practical techniques, ensuring therapists are well-prepared.

Ethical Dilemmas: Sex therapy supervision training addresses ethical challenges, such as confidentiality decisions, potential dual relationships, transference and countertransference with supervisees. Supervision training helps guide therapists in making sound ethical choices.

The ideal audience for Sex Therapy Supervision Training includes but is not limited to:

  • Sex Therapist
  • Sexuality Counselors
  • LPC, LCSW, Psychologist, Medical Doctor, Psychiatric Nurse

This course is ideal for anyone seeking sex therapy certification prior to committing to a sex therapy program or anyone who is a current or aspiring mental health supervisor. Supervisors act as mentors, supporting novice clinicians in handling intense therapeutic material, including sensitive sex therapy-related topics.
