Hospice behavioral specialists are considered the number one patient and family advocate for patient care and end-of-life wishes. With the evolution of telehealth, it's particularly important to ensure that behavioral health specialists are equipped to set up and conduct an initial and ongoing assessment for hospice patients and their families.
When a patient enters hospice care, it is imperative that they have access and support to their behavior health specialist for end-of-life planning, community resources, emotional support, crisis intervention, legalities, psychoeducation on the dying process, prevention resources for caregiver burnout, funeral planning, and as needed placement information in their community.
In this course, the hospice behavioral health specialist will be able to identify and explain the valuable role of the behavioral health specialist in hospice care, provide discussion on what needs and end of life wishes need to be assessed at the initial biopsychosocial assessment and ongoing assessment, what technology is needed to ensure accessible and successful telehealth visits, and explain applicable laws and legalities for hospice patients and their families. This course will include valuable tips and resources for behavioral health specialists in the hospice care role.
This is a non-interactive, self-study course.
From the time of registration, you have six months to access the coursework.
Upon completion of this training, professionals will be able to do the following:
