Often clinicians hesitate to provide telemental health services due to uncertainty on the legalities of remotely providing services. This course covers the legal aspects of providing behavioral health services when the clinician and client are not in the same location. State licensure law in the United States can be confusing to clinicians. This course teaches you how to identify important legal information when you are potentially going to practice in a different state than the state which provided you a license to practice, and the steps to take prior to providing behavioral health services across state lines or internationally are covered in this course.
- Explain how to determine if you can legally practice telemental health
- Explain how to determine if you can provide clinical services to a client who is not located in the jurisdiction in which you have obtained a professional license
- Describe how to handle a situation in which a client is going to be outside the jurisdiction in which you are authorized to practice while requesting your clinical services
This course is Module 2 of the THTC Program.
