The goal of this training is for participants to integrate online sandplay or sandtray therapy as a trauma-informed modality for intervention, in the continuum of care, when working with children, youth, and families who have experienced trauma. This includes a sequence of components that: (1) follows the tri-phasic model of trauma recovery (Herman, 1992); (2) underscores the neurobiology of trauma; and (3) complements current evidence based approaches in the field of trauma. The client’s engagement in virtual sandplay or sandtray therapy and/or the metaphorical use of sandtray materials/miniatures will be demonstrated through case examples. The training will also integrate application of these techniques to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) and informed by neurosequential models of working with traumatized children, youth, and their families.
