When supervisees resist feedback, struggle to conceptualize cases, or bring personal countertransference into sessions, words alone may not be enough. Expressive arts and play therapy interventions offer powerful, creative ways to foster insight, engagement, and growth in supervision.

This one-hour, self-paced course invites clinical supervisors to reimagine the supervision process through proven expressive interventions that tap into the emotional and relational dynamics of learning. Whether you’re facing stalled progress or just looking to enhance your supervision toolbox, this training offers practical, creative strategies to meet supervisees where they are.

Dr. Laura Fazio-Griffith—an award-winning counselor educator, supervisor, and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor—brings decades of leadership in supervision, counselor training, and play therapy. Her extensive academic, clinical, and board-level contributions make her uniquely equipped to guide supervisors in applying expressive interventions effectively and ethically.

Dr. Fazio-Griffith blends theory and real-world application by demonstrating how expressive interventions can enhance case conceptualization, process relational dynamics, and promote supervisee growth. Her supervision approach emphasizes intentionality, developmental responsiveness, and creative engagement.

Topics covered include the theoretical foundations of supervision, developmental models, and practical guidance for using expressive tools such as mandalas, collages, puppets, sand trays, and eco-maps. Participants will also explore when and why to use these methods, how they support supervisory goals, and how to introduce them in virtual or in-person settings. Special attention is given to techniques that improve supervisee feedback reception, collaboration, and emotional insight.
