Learning how to interact and assist clients during EMDR can be tricky, as we are taught to 'stay out of the way' during reprocessing and desensitization in EMDR. In this training, you will learn how to identify when interweaves should be used, effective ways to engage during desensitization and reprocessing without disrupting clients in their own adaptive process and specific interweave development.
In addition you will learn how to incorporate ego state interventions into EMDR processing, giving you new interventions to work with some of your most challenging clients. This course does require you to be trained and have experience with EMDR.
Learning Objectives:
- Analyze common barriers in EMDR treatment
- Identify common blocks or resistive behaviors that clients exhibit during processing with EMDR
- Use interweaves to assist clients in moving through blocked processing and assist them with resolving traumatic parts of themselves
- Apply ‘parts’ work within traumatic clients and how to address within EMDR
- Examine the different roles that ‘parts’ play in traumatic healing and survival
