This course is a live, interactive webinar held on April 25, 2025, from 12pm-1:30 pm Eastern Daylight Time.
Registration closes at midnight (EDT) the day before the event
As the number of older Americans seeking mental health care increases, it is important for practicing counselors and therapists to consider which practices will be effective with older adult clients. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an increasingly popular approach to treatment that shows promise for helping older adults attain well-being, even in response to conditions like depression and anxiety.
Within ACT, clients learn how to accept a broad range of internal experiences, while moving forward in their commitment to their most cherished values. Based on his own research into gerontological counseling and the benefits of ACT, the presenter will describe essential, transtheoretical treatment principles related to working with older adults, connect them to the core tenets of ACT, and help participants appraise and apply ACT’s benefits in serving older adult clients.
Please join us for this deep dive into utilizing ACT to support older adults’ mental health and well-being!
