Mastering the ability to reflect a client's core message back to them is one of the most powerful ways to build trust and strengthen the therapeutic alliance.** This interactive skills lab is designed to build your paraphrasing mastery from the ground up, using an AI supervisor to guide you through focused, repetitive practice until you achieve proficiency. ### **Your Role** \- Follow the AI supervisor as it breaks down paraphrasing into three core skills: identifying the message, reflecting it concisely, and checking for accuracy. \- Engage in a practice loop where you respond to a simulated client and receive immediate feedback on your paraphrase. \- Repeat the practice scenarios for each core skill until you consistently demonstrate proficiency before advancing to the next. ### **Goals of the Activity** \- Develop proficiency in the clinical micro-skill of paraphrasing to powerfully demonstrate active listening and empathy. \- Sharpen your ability to quickly identify the core message in a client's narrative and reflect it back concisely in your own words. \- Build the confidence that comes from knowing you accurately understand your client's perspective, strengthening the therapeutic alliance. ### **After the Session** This activity is designed for in-the-moment skill acquisition, focusing on what you achieve by the end: \- A demonstrated proficiency in each of the three core components of effective paraphrasing. \- The confidence of having successfully passed through a "repeat until mastery" learning loop. \- A tangible improvement in your ability to apply the skill, ready for immediate use in your next client session. ### **Why Choose This Activity?** \- **Mastery-Based Learning:** This isn't just practice; it's a path to proficiency. This is the experience inside an AI-powered interactive lab: \- **Meet Your Guide:** You'll be greeted and guided by a friendly AI instructor who will be with you for the entire session. \- **Learn the Skill:** Your instructor will clearly explain the clinical micro-skill, providing a simple "formula" and examples so you know exactly what to practice. \- **Practice in Realistic Scenarios:** Engage in a series of text-based role-play scenarios where you'll apply the skill in response to an AI "client." \- **Get Instant Feedback:** Immediately after you submit a response, your AI instructor will provide personalized, on-the-spot feedback to help you learn, adjust, and improve. \- **Build Confidence Through Repetition:** You will work through several different client scenarios, allowing you to practice the skill until you feel competent and confident. \- **Receive a Final Summary:** At the end of the lab, you'll receive a summary of your progress and a comprehensive report evaluating your performance. \- **Get Immediate Access:** After enrolling, you can access your online learning portal where your lab is waiting. \- **Launch the Activity:** From your learning portal, simply launch the skills lab to begin. \- **Follow the Prompts:** Read the instructions and client scenarios, then type - or speak - your responses directly into the chat window when prompted. \- **Work at Your Own Pace:** There are no timers. You can take as much time as you need to think about and formulate your responses, and continue exchanges until you decide the lesson has been completed. \- **Complete and Review:** An attempt will conclude once you’ve decided that the scenario have been completed to your satisfaction.
