📋 ALPS Requirements in West Virginia
To qualify as an ALPS, you must meet the following criteria:
1. Licensure and Experience
Licensure Duration: Hold a permanent LPC license for at least two (2) years.
Counseling Experience: Accumulate a minimum of five (5) years of counseling experience, which can be licensed or unlicensed but must be documented.
2. Clinical Supervision Training
LPCs with Less Than 10 Years of Experience: Complete 30 contact hours in clinical counseling supervision.
LPCs with 10 or More Years of Experience: Complete 15 contact hours in clinical counseling supervision.
These hours can be obtained through:
A one-semester hour graduate course (equivalent to 15 contact hours) from an accredited institution.
Continuing education from an approved provider.

3. Additional Application Materials

A Professional Statement detailing their counseling philosophy, supervision approach, and counseling experience.

Clinical Supervision Training: Complete an additional 3 contact hours in clinical supervision training.
