Below, we outline the state’s supervisor eligibility requirements, continuing education guidelines, and pitfalls—and show how TCI can help strengthen your supervision skills.
✅ Supervisor Eligibility Requirements
To supervise an applicant for clinical social work licensure (LCSW) in North Dakota, you must meet the following criteria outlined in North Dakota Administrative Code (NDAC) § 75.5-02-03-04.1:

Evaluate the supervisee's clinical competencies, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, ethical conduct, and risk assessment
Maintain documentation of each supervisory session, including date, time, and content
🔄 Ongoing & Renewal CE Requirements
While North Dakota does not require continuing education specifically to maintain clinical supervisor status, social workers must complete the state’s general continuing education requirements to keep their license active and remain eligible to provide supervision.
30 contact hours per two-year renewal cycle
At least 2 hours must focus on social work ethics
No more than 10 hours via self-study/distance learning
Course content should relate to:
Theories and concepts of human behavior and the social environment;
Social work knowledge and skills;

📘 How the Telehealth Certification Institute Helps You Work Toward Supervision CE Requirements
The Telehealth Certification Institute (TCI) offers a range of continuing education (CE) courses designed to help North Dakota social workers meet licensing renewal requirements and improve supervisory competency, in compliance with NDAC 75.5-02-03-07.
Because North Dakota limits independent (self-paced) learning to 10 hours per licensing period, TCI courses are best used in combination with live, interactive CE.

🧩 Self-Paced CE Courses (Independent Learning – Up to 10 Hours)
