Montana CE Details
Montana LCPC and LMFT Renewal Information
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPCs) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) in Montana must complete 20 hours of Continuing Education (CE) annually before license renewal. Of these, at least 2 hours must cover suicide prevention. CE requirements are not enforced until after the first renewal, and licensees holding multiple licenses must complete 20 hours for each license. Up to 10 hours may be earned through first-time preparation of a qualifying course or publication, and up to 20 excess hours may be carried forward to the next renewal cycle.
CE Requirements to Be Approved as a Clinical Supervisor(LPC-S)
While Montana does not list separate or additional continuing education (CE) requirements specifically for clinical supervisors, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPCs) must complete 20 CE hours annually to maintain licensure. Supervisors are expected to maintain competence in supervision practices as part of their ongoing professional development. Choosing CE courses that address clinical supervision, ethics, and best practices is strongly recommended. The Telehealth Certification Institute offers supervision-focused CE courses, including the 20 CE Clinical Supervision Training Bundle, to help you stay current, competent, and confident in your supervisory role.
