Oklahoma CEU Requirements

In Oklahoma, Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) are required to renew their license annually, with the renewal deadline set for June 30th each year by the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure. To maintain licensure in good standing, LPCs must complete a minimum of 20 hours of counseling-related continuing education (CE) annually, which must include at least 3 hours in counseling ethics.

Telehealth Certification Institute, LLC has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6693. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Telehealth Certification Institute, LLC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

The Telehealth Certification Institute, LLC has not applied to the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure for CE approval.

In Oklahoma, Licensed Marital and Family Therapists (LMFTs) must renew their license annually, with the renewal deadline falling on December 31st each year, as set by the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure. To remain in compliance, LMFTs are required to complete at least 20 hours of continuing education (CE) each year, which must include a minimum of 3 hours in therapy ethics.

To become an Approved LMFT Supervisor in Oklahoma, you must first complete 45 contact hours of supervision training, either through:

• A graduate-level supervision course, or
• An equivalent course of study approved by the Board, consisting of:
  • ✅ 15 hours in a live class or workshop format (attended with at least four other supervisors-in-training)
  • ✅ 30 hours of directed study, approved and monitored by a Board-approved LMFT Supervisor

(Per OAC 86:15-9-3)

After obtaining supervisor status, all LMFT-approved supervisors must complete 3 hours of supervision-specific CE each year. These hours must focus on Oklahoma law and supervision practices and must be offered by the LMFT License Committee or its designee. This ensures that supervisors remain compliant with current state-specific regulations.

In Oklahoma, Licensed Social Workers (LSWs) are required to renew their license annually. Each renewal cycle requires the completion of 16 clock hours of board-approved continuing education (CE), including a mandatory 3 hours of ethics training.

To become—or remain—a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor in Oklahoma, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) must meet state-specific training obligations, in addition to the general continuing education (CE) requirements for license renewal.

✅ Required Supervisor Training (Board-Approved Only)
Unlike some states, Oklahoma mandates that supervisors complete Board-sponsored or Board-approved training:

• Within 1 year of gaining Board Approved Supervisor (BAS) status
• At least once every 3 years thereafter to retain supervisor eligibility

Only courses provided or approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers fulfill this requirement.

⚠️ Note: Supervision CE from other providers—including the Telehealth Certification Institute (TCI)— does not count toward this supervisor-specific requirement.

📘 General CE Requirements for LCSW License Renewal
To maintain your LCSW license—and by extension, remain eligible to supervise—you must complete:

• 16 CE hours annually, including
• 3 hours in social work ethics

These hours can be earned from a variety of providers and formats, unless otherwise specified by the Board. CE is required each calendar year, with licenses renewing on January 1.

While TCI’s supervision courses do not satisfy Oklahoma’s mandatory Board-approved supervisor training, they can help you grow as a supervisor and may count toward your general CE hours if approved by the Board.

Telehealth Certification Institute LLC, #1609, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 05/02/2024 – 05/02/2027.

ASWB CE hours are accepted by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers.

In Oklahoma, Licensed Psychologists are required to renew their license annually, with the continuing professional education (CPE) year running from January 1 to December 31, according to the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. To maintain licensure, psychologists must complete at least 20 credits of board-approved continuing education each year, which must include a minimum of 3 credits in ethics.

Oklahoma does not impose any supervision-specific continuing education (CE) requirements for psychologists who serve as clinical supervisors, but psychologists supervising licensure candidates must still meet the standard CE requirements for psychologist license renewal to remain eligible to supervise. Under the OAC § 575:10-1-8(a), licensed psychologists are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education each calendar year. For psychologists holding Health Service Provider (HSP) designation, at least 3 of the 20 hours must be in ethics, legal issues, or professional practice standards. CE hours must be completed and reported by December 31 each year, and psychologists are required to retain CE documentation for a minimum of two years in case of audit. There are no additional CE obligations tied specifically to serving as a supervisor beyond these general licensure requirements.
