Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor Renewal Information

In Georgia, Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) are required to renew their licenses biennially, with all licenses expiring on September 30th of even-numbered years.

Each renewal cycle mandates the completion of 35 hours of Continuing Education (CE) within the two-year period.

The specific CE requirements include a mandatory 5 CE hours in professional ethics, which must be obtained through live, synchronous webinars only. Additionally, a minimum of 15 core hours must focus on professional counseling content, while up to 15 CE hours can be related hours from activities in specialties other than the one in which the license is held, or in allied professions such as psychiatry, psychiatric nursing, or psychology. Furthermore, LPCs are allowed a maximum of 10 hours of asynchronous CE activities per renewal period.
