Massachusetts Licensed Mental Health Counselor Renewal Information

Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) in Massachusetts are required to complete 30 contact hours of Continuing Education (CE) every two years as part of the license renewal process. Although not mandatory, the Board encourages licensees to include at least 3 hours in ethics and 3 hours in anti-discrimination training within each renewal cycle. Additionally, LMHCs who supervise the clinical work of students, interns, or others must complete 3 contact hours in supervision training

CE Requirements to Be Approved as a Clinical Supervisor

Massachusetts LMHCs must complete 30 CE hours every two years for license renewal. NBCC CE hours are accepted by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Service Professions for Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs).
