EMDR doesn’t always flow smoothly—and when it doesn’t, it’s often because the client’s internal system is asking for a deeper, more attuned approach. This course offers the advanced strategies you need when trauma processing hits a wall, when parts hijack progress, and when resistance is really a cry for safety.
When trauma responses show up as blocks, shutdowns, or looping in EMDR, knowing how to work with protective and fragmented parts is essential. This self-study course equips you with practical, clinical tools to move through those impasses with greater skill, compassion, and clarity.
Megan Salar, MSW, ACADC, CCTP-II, EMDR-C, is a highly sought-after EMDR clinician, trainer, and author who specializes in trauma, attachment, and addiction. With a track record of training thousands of clinicians both nationally and internationally, Megan brings lived expertise and engaging instruction to help clinicians elevate their EMDR practice with confidence and depth.
Megan’s approach combines the power of ego state work and parts theory with EMDR’s structure to create a flexible, grounded framework for treating complex trauma. Through a hands-on, practical teaching style, she helps clinicians feel empowered to navigate client resistance, access stuck neural networks, and apply targeted interweaves with clarity.
In this advanced course, you’ll explore how to identify and respond to blocks in EMDR processing, understand why these barriers emerge, and how to use ego state work to enhance safety and connection. You’ll learn how to map clients’ internal systems, identify protective and exiled parts, and apply interweaves that support healing. Topics include common barriers to EMDR success, the role of parts in trauma recovery, resourcing for fragmented ego states, parts-oriented interweaves, and real-world case applications.
Key Takeaways:
Break through stuck EMDR processing: Learn how to interpret resistance and blocks as opportunities for healing rather than obstacles.
Apply parts work and ego state interventions: Build your ability to safely explore and integrate protective and exiled parts within EMDR.
Use interweaves with precision: Discover language and techniques that help clients engage their internal system in service of trauma resolution.
