Description

In 2020 therapists across the world switched the medium of our message from carefully constructed therapy rooms to carefully created teletherapy experiences. Just as Salvador Minuchen, Jay Haley, and Marianne Walters created great impact on families with the new ways of interacting with client families and moved the art of family therapy forward, family therapists have once again embraced change boldly. We create, challenge, and shape-shift family processes via teletherapy using newly forged tools, again benefitting from Marshall McLuhan’s seminal work about the profound role of the medium. Family therapists focus on families within the realities of the families’ current lives as they are being lived, and are re-tooling their trade based on the trial and error experience of bringing our therapeutic artistry to the medium of teletherapy. This presentation will explore and expand on these newly forged family therapy tools.

This is a non-interactive self-study course.

Instruction consists of 1 hour of video instruction and a post-test.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the family process in the context of teletherapy
  • State two Family Process strategies and their implementation in teletherapy
  • Identify current challenges in participants’ Family Therapy practices.
