How to Become an Approved Clinical Supervisor in Alaska: A Guide for LCSWs

Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) in Alaska who plan to serve as clinical supervisors must meet specific qualification and continuing education (CE) standards under Alaska state regulations. These standards differ before and after June 30, 2026. 📜 Requirements Before June 30, 2026

  • License: Active, unrestricted LCSW

  • Experience: No minimum post-licensure experience required

  • CE Requirement:
    There are no supervision-specific continuing education requirements before June 30, 2026.

 

🔧 Requirements After June 30, 2026

  • License: Active, unrestricted LCSW in good standing

  • Experience: At least three years post-licensure clinical practice

  • Initial CE Requirement: At least six hours of continuing education in supervision or supervisory practices

🔁 Renewal CE Requirement

“A clinical supervisor shall complete an additional six hours of continuing education in supervision or supervisory practices during each biennial licensing period.”
