How to Serve as a Clinical Supervisor for Social Workers in Delaware

📝 Requirements to Qualify as a Clinical Supervisor in Delaware
To supervise LCSW applicants in Delaware, you must meet the following requirements as outlined in Delaware Administrative Code § 3900-3.2:
✅ Licensure and Experience
Hold an active LCSW license in any U.S. state or territory (Delaware licensure is not required).
Have at least three years of post-licensure clinical practice.
Have no history of disciplinary action.
✅ Required Continuing Education (completed within 4 years prior to supervising)
3 CE hours in clinical supervision
3 CE hours in cultural competency and/or diversity
6 CE hours in ethics
✅ Supervision Limits
You may supervise no more than seven supervisees at any one time.
Dual supervision is not permitted—supervisors and supervisees cannot be supervising each other simultaneously.

🔄 Renewal CE Requirements for LCSWs in Delaware
While Delaware does not require additional supervision-specific CE to maintain your status as a supervisor, you must maintain your LCSW license to remain eligible.
LCSW license renewal requires 40 CE hours every two years, including:
✅ At least 6 hours in ethics
✅ At least 1 hour in mandatory reporting
⚠️ A maximum of 10 hours may be from self-directed activities (e.g., readings, presentations)
CE must be completed within the renewal cycle (no carryover is allowed)
