✅ Maine’s Clinical Supervision Requirements
To be approved as a clinical supervisor by the Maine Board of Counseling Professionals Licensure, you must:
Hold a Full, Active License
You must have a full, active Maine license in good standing as a:
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Licensed Pastoral Counselor (LP)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Certified Social Worker-Independent Practice (CSW-IP)
Psychologist
Psychiatrist
Meet ONE of the Following Qualifications
Experience-Based: Hold a qualifying license for at least 5 years, with at least 3 years at the full licensure level
Certification-Based: Be certified in clinical supervision by a national professional organization
Training-Based: Complete 30 contact hours of training in supervision and hold a qualifying license for at least 1 year
Submit a Supervision Plan
A typed and signed supervision plan must be submitted and approved by the Board before supervision begins. It should include your supervision philosophy, experience, and goals.
