Description

This course does not offer CE Credits. The same course is available for purchase and offers 6 CE hours for behavioral health clinicians.  See "related products" below.

Through a combination of one developmental supervision model and one social roles supervision model, this training webinar will equip participants with a solid framework for how to provide play therapy supervision for interns, pre-licensed therapists, and fully licensed therapists who are providing play therapy services at all levels of professional development. In this workshop, participants will learn how to assess a clinician's level of development and match where the clinician is with the supervisory role and skills that are best fit for the supervise.

Participants will learn how supervisors can provide play-based supervision interventions for the purpose of engaging supervisees experientially while helping supervisees hone their play therapy skills. This course will provide case-studies for participants to apply what they learn in the course about the supervision models to fictional but realistic supervision scenarios.

This course meets the Association for Play Therapy’s credentialing process requirements for those applying for or renewing their Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) credential. This course provides 6 non-contact CE hours for Play Therapists.

This is a non-interactive, self-study course that offers over 6 hours of recorded video instruction, a post-test and a course evaluation.

Course Availability

From the time of registration, you have six months to access the coursework.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this training, professionals will be able to do the following:

  • Name the developmental and social roles supervision models introduced to conceptualize and frame the play therapy supervision experience for supervisors and supervisees.
  • Specify the three developmental levels in which play therapy supervisees may be categorized.
  • Determine which supervisory role a play therapy supervisor will adopt based on the professional developmental level at which the supervisee presents.
  • Name three play-based supervision interventions a supervisor might use with supervisees and the reasons for using them.
  • Utilize and apply the elements of the developmental and social roles supervision models with three case scenarios for identifying the professional development levels of three fictional supervisees and the most appropriate roles the supervisor would step into.
